Smart thermostat FAQ

Can I really receive up to five thermostats at no cost?
Eligible residential customers with electric baseboard heating may qualify for up to five eligible smart thermostats under the applicable program. Final eligibility is determined under the program's terms and conditions.
Does every home qualify?
No. Eligibility requirements apply, including electrical heating type and utility account requirements. Farco's online check is a preliminary screening and does not constitute program approval.
What thermostat brands are available?
The current program identifies eligible smart baseboard thermostat models from Canadian manufacturers Mysa and Sinope. Available models and program conditions may change.
Why would I want several thermostats?
Electric baseboard homes commonly use separate heating zones. Multiple smart thermostats can allow different areas of the home to be scheduled and controlled separately.
Can I control them from my phone?
Compatible smart thermostats provide connected controls through their respective apps and an internet connection.
What is Peak Saver?
The thermostats supplied through the applicable program are enrolled in Peak Saver. During certain periods of high electricity demand, enrolled thermostats may be temporarily adjusted. Customers retain the ability to override the adjustment. Program terms and reward eligibility apply.
Is Farco giving me the free thermostats?
Farco Energy assists homeowners with preliminary qualification, energy assessment, electrical services, and installation-related support where applicable. The free thermostat offer is provided through the applicable utility energy conservation program.
Is installation included?
Installation requirements vary by property. Farco can review your existing thermostat wiring and provide installation options where required.
What is the $50 Home Energy Assessment?
It is an optional Farco service for customers who want a professional in-home review rather than only completing the online eligibility check. The $50 is fully credited toward an eligible Farco project if the customer proceeds.
